Skin Care Tips While Traveling

Whether you are traveling by car to a family reunion, by train for a weekend holiday, or jetting across the globe; looking after your skin while on the move can be quite a challenge! Here are a few tips to ensure your skin is not worse for wear once you get to your destination:

  • Moisturize: The night before you fly, apply extra moisturizer to your skin. The cabin air is very dry and can remove all the moisture out of your skin.
  • Minimize makeup: Sleeping in your makeup while traveling can cause clogged pores, pimples, dry skin, broken eyelashes, and chapped lips. If you absolutely must put on some makeup, then only use the bare minimum and make sure your lipstick is the moisturizing kind.
  • Blot out the extra oil: Keep blotting paper handy to manage oily skin. Use the blotting paper to dab off the shine from excess oil and keep your skin looking fresh when you reach your destination.
  • Perk up your puffy eyes: To reduce eye puffiness after a long journey, wrap some ice in a cloth and apply it under your eyes. This is sure to immediately perk you up and make your eyes look and feel fresher.
  • Drink plenty of water: Always carry a bottle of water with you when you are traveling. Taking a swig from it every now and then throughout your journey is one of the best ways to hydrate your skin from the inside out.
  • Hands off your face: Use an antibacterial hand-wash to clean your hands thoroughly before touching your face throughout your journey as your hands are likely to encounter unknown types of bacteria as your travel. To reduce skin breakouts while traveling, avoid touching your face as much as possible.
  • Carry your beauty products: When traveling to a distant country, it is good idea to carry the brand of beauty products that you generally use as they may not be available or may be very expensive abroad.
